With grateful hearts for a life well lived, the family of Arnold Piecharka of Goodsoil, Saskatchewan sadly announces his passing on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the age of 85 years.

Arnold will be forever loved and remembered by his children: Wanda Piecharka (John Gibbons), Noella (Milton) Drumheller, Sonia (Ian) Kosokowsky, Jessica (Robin) Roy, Darrel (Sharon) Piecharka & Cory Piecharka (Naomi Lefebvre); 1 sister Louise Britton; 14 Grandchildren; 2 Step Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; 2 Step Great Grandchildren as well as numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Arnold was predeceased by: his wife Liz; parents: John & Augustina Piecharka; 3 sisters: Anne, Dorothy and Valeria; 3 brothers: Harold, John and Jake; 1 Grandson: Lyndon.

Dad loved sports. Dad loved playing hockey and curling in the winter, as well as playing fast ball, slow pitch and water skiing in the summer. He was a gifted athlete. He was a very talented goalie, and was known as the “Silver Fox” in his later years of goaltending. His net minding legacy continued on through the generations through his son Cory, grandson Kyle Drumheller, granddaughter Renee Greene and great granddaughter Callie Greene. When Dad could no longer play the sports he loved, he participated by officiating and coaching the future sport stars of Goodsoil.

Dad was also very proud of all his children’s accomplishments and attended, as much as he could, all the school events, sporting events, graduations, weddings of his children, grand children and great grandchildren. Grandpa Smarties (Dad would always have boxes of smarties on hand as a treat for all the kids), as he was known to all his grandkids, enjoyed family gatherings, and was always one to contribute stories, or recite limericks that were usually not appropriate in the presence of the children. He usually got in trouble from Mom for that!

Dad was an avid fisherman, skilled hunter and trapper. He loved camping and spent several years with his family camping at the lakeshore at Lauman’s homestead.

Dad lost the love of his life, five years ago. The loss of his wife, Liz, was devastating to him, and his health declined quickly after that. Dad is now with Mom, together again, watching the beautiful sunsets they so often enjoyed down by the lakeshore.

Dad will be dearly missed by all his family, friends and relatives.

The family would like to thank the staff of the L. Gervais Memorial Health Center for the wonderful care that they provided for our father for the last three years. We will be forever grateful.

Please join the family for a Celebration of Life on July 20, 2024. It will take place in Goodsoil, Saskatchewan.
