Obituary for Barry Anthony Kulczycki

Barry Anthony Kulczycki

Dad was born in Meadow Lake, SK on July 1, 1957 to Tony and Anne Kulczycki, the elder brother of Brian (Tina) Kulczycki. After graduating from Carpenter High School he quickly entered the work force to provide opportunity for his soon to be family. Marrying Nanci Kulczycki (nee Rutt), together they would acquire and develop a property south of Meadow Lake and raise four boys. Todd (Saron), Kody, and Luke; Jesse (Brandi), Casen, Colby and Cade; Kris (Ashley), Carter, Chloe; Scott (Carissa), Ayla and Ezra.

Dad was rounded and adaptive in his employment, of course his heart was always in agriculture. He would subsidize this passion while working construction, retail and recently as a gifted equipment operator. Operating equipment the last twenty plus years while traveling across Saskatchewan created many great stories it also established relationships with fellow workers growing into lifelong friendships. This talent could not surpass his passion for the cattle industry and the eye for fancy beef. His connection to the cattle culture would foster relationships spanning across North America that lasted for decades.

Dad grew up farming, hunting, fishing and was always up for adventure. He was known to be able to “catch fish in a toilet bowl” and get “three pounds of meat from a two-pound pickerel”, a great guide and an excellent camp cook. Hearing several times of him being referred to as “my favorite cousin.” Dad was very proud of the athletic talents his boys exhibited and the opportunities these talents and instilled work ethics would provide. This pride would only be trumped by the arrival of his grand kids. Spending time with them was his happy place, he was quick to take over house rules and be a grandpa every young child would desire. Whether it was pockets full of candy, bags of tickles or simply relaxing watching sports highlights, they were always so happy to see him randomly drive into the yard and learn a new marginally appropriate joke.

Please join us in celebrating Dad’s life Friday February 24th, 1:30PM in Meadow Lake at the Alliance Church. A family inurnment to follow the service and we invite you to join us for eats and fellowship in the gym upon our return.
