Chucky was a respected veteran in the area of northern wildfire management, a dangerous field requiring specialized skills. I always looked up to him, not only because he was among the last to man the fire towers in northern Sask before that task was computerized, but because he carried himself with a calm dignity and friendly respect. No matter where I ran into Chucky, he always had the time to greet me personally in his own style and share an interesting story. I used to tell him, if you ever need a substitute in the tower, just call me & I’ll climb up in a heartbeat. I also used to encourage him to write down his experiences, as they would make such a intriguing book. Sadly we ran out of time to immortalize his unique voice. R.I.P. Chucky, you were one of a kind. Thank you for all the years you kept us safe. We now have a tall, strong angel watching that horizon for us from on high ❤️
